SAR Europe joins CASE – the Coalition Against SLAPPs in Europe

Moves to limit academic discourse are underway through the use of litigation.

These types of strategic lawsuits against public participation (SLAPPs) attempt to silence public criticism through expensive, meritless legal proceedings.

In a combined effort to stop lawsuits designed to block accountability & suppress critical speech, SAR Europe has joined the Coalition Against SLAPPs in Europe (CASE).

CASE is a coalition of non-governmental organisations from across Europe united in recognition of the threat posed to public watchdogs by SLAPPs. The campaign is focused on ensuring the adoption of an EU anti-SLAPP directive, as well as a Council of Europe recommendation on SLAPPs.
