SAR Europe is Hiring!

Join the Scholars at Risk Europe team!

SAR Europe (hosted at Maynooth University, Ireland) is seeking a Policy & Programme Manager in Europe to coordinate activities with partners in Europe to improve support for researchers at risk and to promote academic freedom.

SAR Europe launched in November 2018 with an event at the European Parliament. The establishment of SAR Europe formalised nearly twenty years of partnership between European higher education institutions and SAR in protecting scholars and promoting academic freedom. SAR Europe’s mandate is to grow, support and coordinate these activities. This includes primarily the activities of national SAR sections and partners across Europe, to strengthen our collective voice in Europe for the greater protection of scholars and for increased respect for academic freedom worldwide. SAR Sections are groups of higher education institutions and associations that are nationally focused and organized specifically to coordinate participation in SAR activities. There are currently 11 SAR sections in Europe. SAR Europe also leads the EU-funded Inspireurope project to coordinate activities across Europe in support of researchers at risk.

SAR Europe seeks an experienced Policy & Programme Manager to coordinate the EU-funded Inspireurope project, including its day-to-day coordination, implementation, monitoring and reporting. In addition, the Policy & Programme Manager will contribute a portion of their time to the core activities of the SAR Europe office. It is SAR Europe’s intention to seek further funding to continue and expand our coordination and policy activities in Europe beyond the term of the Inspireurope project (which ends in August 2022).
