Peer and mentoring approaches

The Inspireurope+ project, which strengthens and coordinates support for researchers at risk across Europe, offered a webinar and workshop on Friday 19 April at the 2024 Philipp Schwartz Initiative/Inspireurope+ stakeholder forum from 11:00-13:00 CEST for host institutions and employers on how to support researchers at risk.

This event focused on the groundwork of academic mentoring, and the necessary institutional support for improving the mentor’s situation. Experienced mentors shared and discussed reflections on their mentoring practice, for instance the art of personalizing one’s mentoring approach to preconditions and needs of the mentee, defining the boundaries of academic mentoring, and identifying supplementary measures. The first hour of the event was organized in a hybrid format while the second hour was onsite only.

Moderated by Sarah Blichfeldt, SAR Sweden and International Centre at the University of Gothenberg.

Speakers:

  • Marit Egner, Senior Advisor, University of Oslo
  • Francesca Helm, Associate Professor, University of Padova
  • Guest researcher at risk

The webinar recording and materials will be available shortly.
