Inspireurope Regional Outreach Workshop, Southern Europe, March 31, 2022
The Inspireurope project’s Regional Outreach Workshop, South East Europe will be held on 31 March, 2022 at the Aristotle Univerity of Thessaloniki, Greece (venue: Aristotle University Research Dissemination Center-KEDEA). The workshop aims to increase awareness with key stakeholders in Greece and surrounding countries and provide opportunities to get involved in activities to support researchers at risk. It also aims to discuss effective ways to support researchers at risk both in academic and non-academic sectors.
Towards these aims, the workshop will bring together academics, HEI representatives, NGOs, national/EU representatives, representatives of professional/industry associations and researchers at risk along with the project partners to share experience and information on existing support and funding programs as well as good practices to promote cooperation across Europe in support of researchers at risk. Organised by Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in cooperation with the Inspireurope consortium, the workshop will raise awareness and promote collaboration in South East Europe to support researchers at risk. There will be a particular emphasis on Balkan universities and ways they can actively support researchers at risk to continue their research careers in a safe work environment in Europe, whether in academia, business, NGOs, think tanks or other sectors. It, also, aims to discuss challenges and good practices and provide useful guidelines for national-level actions in Europe in support researchers at risk.
The workshop will include sessions on:
• Academic Freedom: Core Academic Value and Pillar of Democracy
• Building a culture of welcome at South East European institutions
• Preparing the work environment in the academic and non-academic sectors
• Career development & cross-national circulation of researchers in Europe
• Researchers at Risk: Contributions to European academy – Solidarity with Afghanistan academics
