Global Forum on “Higher Education Leadership for Democracy, Sustainability and Social Justice”

This conference is being co-organized by the Global Cooperation for the Democratic Mission of Higher Education – which includes the Council of Europe, the International Consortium for Higher Education, Civic Responsibility, and Democracy, the Organization of American States, and the International Association of Universities – and with Dublin City University as host of this Forum. It will be the seventh major conference organized in Europe by the Council of Europe and the International Consortium, in addition to conferences organized in the United States. The conference will underline the commitment by the main organizers to democracy, human rights and the rule of law, and more specifically to the need for higher education leadership for democracy, sustainability and social justice. It will be held during the Irish Presidency of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers.

Denise Roche, Advocacy Manager, will be speaking on the plenary scheduled for 9:00AM-10:15AM (Irish Standard Time) on 17 June. This session will focus on: What new institutional practices help sustain and engage the most at-risk students, while ensuring that all students are educated to be ethical, empathetic, justice-seeking democratic citizens?
