Academic freedom challenges in Europe
On SAR Europe’s behalf, Dominik Kalweit will be speaking about academic freedom challenges in Europe at the Human Rights and Academic Freedom in Europe Symposium, held on March 20th 2024 in Berlin. With reference to Scholars at Risk’s Free to Think 2023 report, the Academic Freedom Monitoring Index and field experiences, this presentation will discuss current concerns in relation to academic freedom in Europe. In a call to action, it will further outline what higher education institutions and community members can do to address threats facing this core higher education value. The event is the 10th “Human Rights and Science” Symposium series and is organised by the Human Rights Committee of Leopoldina in collaboration with the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters (DNVA).
