
Applying for EU funding opportunities as an at-risk researcher
This webinar explored research funding opportunities in the EU, in particular the MSCA programme. It included an overview of opportunities for researchers in MSCA, advice on application strategies, and key resources designed to support researchers at risk. The webinar featured European and institutional level perspectives as well as the experiences of a researcher who has successfully applied for an MSCA fellowship.

Marija Mitic, Policy Analyst, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, DG EAC. Marija is a Policy Analyst at the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) unit of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC). She coordinates feedback to policy activities in the unit, from data management to activities for better informed policymaking. She is also the responsible Policy Officer for the Inspireurope+ and SAFE projects, and manages the unit’s overall work on academic freedom and fundamental values. Presentation.
Jennifer Borde, International Office, University of Bordeaux. Jennifer has worked at the University of Bordeaux as an International Projects Officer since 2009. She is specialized in programmes for excellence, international cooperation and international career development. She is an advisor for funding programmes such as Horizon Europe, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, Fulbright, DAAD etc. and expert in writing competitive project proposals. She is also the university coordinator for the support of scientists at risk: funding, welcoming, training, developing careers. Presentation.
Dr Refet Yalçin, Saint-Gobain Research. Refet is a Franco-Kurdish scientist working on heat transfer with an expertise on radiative heat transfer. He completed his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bogazici University. He came to Institut Prime, France in 2019 as a CNRS researcher with the PAUSE program. He has since won two prestigious fellowships. With the Fulbright fellowship, Refet went to UCLA, Los Angeles in the beginning of 2021 for a year as a visiting scholar. Then, with the MSCA Individual Fellowship he returned to France at the end of 2021. Since then he has joined Saint-Gobain research in December 2022 and is currently conducting his research there.
